Impress Sensors

Three different types of pressure sensors

Pressure sensors can be used to measure the pressure of different liquids and gases which are used in different applications. Nowadays, pressure sensors are installed in most industrial applications where pressure needs to be measured. If the pressure exceeds or crosses a safety level then the pressure sensor can inform the control system about the pressure. Pressure sensors can also be used to measure variables such as water level, altitude and speed.

Due to the presence of different applications in factories and utility plants, various kinds of pressure sensors are manufactured these days. The latest pressure sensors vary on the basis of nature of application, design, technology and performance. At present, you can see more than 50 technologies used in the manufacture of pressure sensors.

Out of the many different types of pressure sensors, there are three main types that are commonly used in most industrial site. Here is some information about these pressure sensors:

• Gauge pressure sensors
• Vacuum pressure sensors
• Absolute pressure sensors

Gauge pressure sensors – These pressure sensors are seen in all applications, as they are manufactured to check the pressure relative to a given atmospheric pressure.

Vacuum pressure sensors –
Unlike gauge pressure sensors, these pressure sensors help to read the pressure which is less than the atmospheric pressure at any location.

Absolute pressure sensors – These types of pressure sensors are used to measure the pressure which is relative to the perfect vacuum pressure.

From the above mentioned pressure sensors, you can choose one for your specific application.
