Pressure transmitters monitor many activities in various manufacturing facilities, general production control, and marine research. They are also a great way of maintaining safety levels.
While monitoring pressure within an industrial unit, a pressure transmitter helps to accomplish two objectives.
Firstly, the amount of pressure that is applied to a part of the process required to attain the desired result is checked by the pressure instruments. In other modern applications, a pressure transmitter may be used to ensure that no machinery exceeds a set level of pressure that is outside the safety levels for the operators. If any machine malfunctions, the operator or control system is alerted by pressure transmitters, who in turn can shut down the machinery thus averting an accident.
Pressure transmitters can also be used to measure liquid pressure that can be used in the care and maintenance of expensive equipment. An automobile uses oil as a liquid required for operation. In order for the vehicle to function properly, oil pressure has to be maintained at a particular level. Diaphragms often connected to a variable resistor act as a monitor for oil pressure in the engine. This allows the resistor to regulate the voltage intensity and to maintain the balance between voltage and oil pressure. It is due to this low oil pressure, the balance is not achieved and the oil light will illuminate. This light warns the operator that it is time to check the oil level before the engine is damaged.
Pressure transmitters ensure that machinery functions properly, as well as alerting the user if the pressure rises to dangerous levels.
