The DPS 200 comprises a piezoresistive pressure sensor and an optional integrated LC display. The unit is available in 14 nominal pressure ranges (differential and gauge) from 1 mbar up to 1,000 mbar. The 5-digit, 7-segment LC display has a digit size of 8mm and a visible range of 32.5mm by 22.5mm.

DPS 200 Low range differential pressure transmitter

DPS 200 Low range differential pressure transmitter

Sam Drury, Sales & Marketing Director at Impress Sensors & Systems Ltd comments: “The DPS 200 is very competitively priced compared to alternatives that are currently available on the market. The units can be fitted anywhere along a pipeline or within a control cabinet or panel. The unit is protected by a rugged ABS housing to IP54 and is both compact and lightweight.”

The DPS 200 operates at a high measuring rate of 1kHz, with a response time that is adjustable by using a potentiometer in the range 50ms up to 2.5s. 3-wire current or voltage outputs are available.

As Drury states: “Being able to adjust the response time is particularly useful if the user needs to eliminate any false triggering in the system. For example, if a filter somewhere in the system becomes blocked over time and the transmitter normally operates at a nominal differential pressure of 50mbar. This differential will increase progressively over time due to the filter blockage, which can cause chatter. By dampening the response time of the transmitter, false triggering within the system can be prevented.”

The DPS 200 is temperature-compensated in the range 0 deg C up to 50 deg C. The unit also provides all the required electrical protection, including short-circuit protection, reverse polarity and electromagnetic protection according to EN 61326.

DMD 831 - Differential pressure transmitter with display and contact for liquids and gases

DMD 831 - Differential pressure transmitter with display and contact for liquids and gases

Differential pressure sensors and transmitters measure the difference in pressure from one side of a diaphragm to the other or between two diaphragms. When pressure is applied, the DMD 831 determines the pressure difference between positive and negative sides and transforms this into a proportional electrical signal. Typically, this enables the measurement of pressure drop across a filter due to build up or blockages, or for measuring flow and level via a pressurised vessel.

The DMD 831 is a cost effective, compact solution for OEMs and end users across a diverse range of process control applications, including pressure control for lubrication systems, hydraulics and pneumatics, air compressors, steam, water, fuels and oils.

Sam Drury, Sales & Marketing Director at Impress Sensors & Systems Ltd comments: “The robust, compact design of the DMD 831 allows it to be integrated in a diverse range of process engineering and machinery applications, particularly where the installation space is restricted. The sensors also provide a turn down capability of 10 to 1.”

Seven different versions of the DMD 831 are available, with differential pressures from 0… 80 mbar up to 0… 70 bar. The transmitters operate in media temperatures from -40 deg C to +125 deg C. Switching accuracy is +/- 0.5% FSO according to IEC 60770. The transmitters are ingress protected to IP65.

Compact digital pressure gauges offer exceptional price/performance ratio

A range of low cost, battery-powered digital pressure gauges has been launched, which offers customers a direct, cost effective replacement for their existing, less accurate mechanical gauges.

The DM 10 range of battery-powered digital pressure gauges is available through Impress Sensors & Systems Ltd, a sensor and instrumentation specialist. The gauges are targeted at a wide range of applications, including hydraulics & pneumatics, process engineering, R&D/laboratory work, and mobile pressure monitoring, including mobile construction vehicles, tractors, pumps, compressors and filters. The gauges have a ceramic diaphragm and so are also suitable for environments in which aggressive chemicals are present.

DM 10 Low cost digital pressure gauge

DM 10 Low cost digital pressure gauge

Sam Drury, Sales & Marketing Director at Impress Sensors & Systems commented: “The DM 10 is a cost effective direct replacement for most mechanical pressure gauges. It has a 63mm diameter display, the same as common mechanical gauges, but the DM 10 offers higher accuracy, repeatability and reliability.”

The DM 10 is designed to be mounted easily and quickly in-situ. The 4.5 digit, 7-segment LC display can be rotated independently of the housing, providing the engineer with clear sight of the display at all times, regardless of the mounting configuration. The housing itself rotates 270 degrees about the horizontal axis.

The device is operated through a simple, menu-driven display via push buttons on a touchpad. As well as showing information about the nominal pressure range, the unit can display via the menu the maximum and minimum pressures of a process. “For example, an engineer may have a fault in the system and therefore needs to check what the maximum pressure reading on the gauge was. An increase in the system pressure from say 6 bar up to 10.5 bar may indicate an over-pressure problem within the process and this would be displayed on the gauge,” Drury added.

Users can also choose which units of measurement they prefer, including bar, mbar, psi, mH2O and MPa. Additional functions include auto-zero and an automatic switch-off, where the user can define between 1 and 5 minutes or select continuous operation.

Nominal pressure ranges for the DM 10 are from 1.6 bar up to 250 bar. Minimum operational life of the battery is 1,500 hours.

Pressure transmitters are a must for different industrial applications

April 29th, 2010

Pressure transmitters are commonly used for industrial applications where detecting pressure is very important. The main function of pressure sensors is to translate the low level electrical outputs to higher level signals. These signals are appropriate for processing and transmission. The latest technology used in pressure transmitters allows them to measure the pressure of several gases and liquids.

Various pressure measurements performed by pressure transmitters

One of the best things about pressure transmitters is that they can easily display several pressure measurements. Absolute pressure is a measurement which is relative to the perfect vacuum. Gauge pressure is one of the common types of measurement, which is directly relative to the local atmospheric pressure. There is also sealed gauged measurement which is relative to sea level’s atmospheric pressure. Lastly, there are differential pressure measurements that help in measuring the difference between distinct pressures.

Pressure transmitters display different units and values

The latest compound pressure transmitters can easily display negative, as well as positive pressures. At present, you will find pressure transmitters which can display the pressure values in bars, millibars, pounds per square inch, centimeters or inches of mercury, kilo pascals, feet or inches of water, and the list goes on.

A few advanced pressure transmitters have temperature compensation which offers temperature measurement and additional pressure outputs. More advanced pressure transmitters include visual alarms, built-in audio alerts and an output switch.

Take into account all the choices above and buy the pressure transmitters which suit your industrial requirements best.
